REGION’S FIRST GREEN AND PANDEMIC-READY HOSPITAL OPENS IN LIPA CITY

LIPA CITY, Batangas — The Global East Asia Medical Center (GEAMC), the first eco-friendly and pandemic-ready hospital in the CALABARZON region, was officially inaugurated along J.P. Laurel National Highway in this city on Wednesday, September 30.

The new facility is set to provide major health benefits to residents of Lipa City and neighboring towns, particularly patients requiring surgical or invasive treatment for heart and vascular conditions.

In addition to expanding hospital bed capacity across Batangas, GEAMC is expected to help relieve overcrowding in specialized medical centers based in Metro Manila.

Guest of honor Mayor Eric Africa expressed the local government’s full backing for the hospital’s health initiatives across Lipa and the broader southern Luzon region. He added that the city administration plans to establish referral pathways to GEAMC for patients needing complex medical interventions not available in local public healthcare facilities.

Dr. Darwin Vivas, GEAMC president and chief executive officer, shared that the leadership remained steadfast in completing the institution despite facing major regional disruptions, including the Taal Volcano eruption on January 12, 2020, and the global COVID-19 emergency.

He noted that work officially began on July 1, 2020, emphasizing that the cutting-edge health center stands as a testament to resilience.
