The national government has released more than ₱12 billion this year to finance socialized housing initiatives, marking a major push to deliver decent and affordable homes to low-income earners.
According to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), this funding drove a 173% increase in housing units financed compared to the previous year.
DHSUD Secretary and Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman Jose Ramon Aliling reported that socialized housing units under the Pag-IBIG Fund surged from 3,987 units in 2025 to 10,904 units so far in 2026, with two months still remaining in the year.
”These results show how President Marcos’ directive to expand access to decent and affordable housing is gaining ground. By making home financing more affordable, we are helping more minimum wage and low-income workers move closer to owning a home of their own,” said Aliling.
Pag-IBIG Fund figures also showed a 15% increase in the total number of homes financed between January and September, alongside a 20% rise in overall housing loan releases, pointing to continued expansion in the agency’s financing operations.
Under the government’s socialized home financing program—an adjustment introduced by Aliling upon taking office last year—qualified member-homebuyers can secure a subsidized home loan rate of 3%.
In addition to socialized options, Pag-IBIG Fund provides promotional rates of 4.5% for loans up to ₱4.9 million and 5.75% for loans ranging between ₱4.9 million and ₱10 million.
“These financing options aim to give more Filipinos opportunities to purchase homes, including those in the open market,” said Aliling.
