“AMIHAN” BRINGS ISOLATED RAINS AS PAGASA MONITORS TYPHOON IN-FA OUTSIDE PAR

The Northeast Monsoon, locally known as the amihan, is bringing cloudy skies and isolated light rains to parts of extreme Northern Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

At the same time, the state weather bureau is closely tracking a tropical cyclone situated well outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Typhoon IN-FA (2631) was last spotted 2,175 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon. It packs maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 170 km/h, moving westward at a speed of 15 km/h.

Due to the amihan, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, though these are expected to bring no significant impact. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rain showers or thunderstorms driven by localized weather systems.

PAGASA cautioned that flash floods or landslides could occur during severe thunderstorm activity.

Nationwide, the weather bureau anticipates light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to east direction, resulting in slight to moderate coastal water conditions across the country’s seaboards.
