DIGIPLUS POSTS Q3 NET LOSS DUE TO OVERSEAS INVESTMENT MARKDOWN DESPITE RESILIENT CORE MARGINS

DigiPlus Interactive Corporation reported a net loss for the third quarter, weighed down by a significant fair value markdown on its overseas investment portfolio despite improvements in its core digital gaming profitability.

According to a filing with the Philippine Stock Exchange, the company incurred a net loss attributable to the parent amounting to ₱947.6 million for the quarter ending September 30. This marks a reversal from the ₱1.71 billion net income recorded during the same period last year.

The quarterly decline was primarily driven by a ₱4.52-billion fair value loss on DigiPlus’s investment in convertible notes issued by Hong Kong-listed International Entertainment Corporation, following a ₱6.16-billion valuation gain booked in the second quarter.

For the first nine months of the year, net income dropped 12 percent to ₱8.85 billion from ₱10.11 billion year-on-year. Revenues over the same period fell 32 percent to ₱45.75 billion compared to ₱66.83 billion a year earlier.

The company noted that the revenue decrease stemmed from softer player spending and lower transaction volumes following the removal of in-app gaming links from major e-wallet platforms in August 2025, which added challenges to customer acquisition and reactivation.

Despite top-line pressures, underlying operations demonstrated strength through tighter cost management:

  • Net Gaming Revenue: Reached P16.18 billion for the nine-month period, while EBITDA stood at ₱8.33 billion.
  • Margin Growth: The third-quarter net gaming revenue margin widened to 40.2 percent, up from 35.3 percent in the previous quarter and 26.3 percent in the third quarter of 2025.
  • EBITDA Expansion: Third-quarter EBITDA margin expanded to 22.1 percent from 18.2 percent in the second quarter, driven by lower promotional costs, reduced payment processing fees, and more focused marketing.

User activity also maintained an upward trajectory. Total monthly active users across major platforms—BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone—grew 2.8 percent quarter-on-quarter to 5.9 million. Combined monthly active bettors and depositors rose 4.8 percent from the previous quarter to 4.9 million, bolstered by steady growth in BingoPlus and GameZone.

DigiPlus closed the quarter with a strong balance sheet, registering total assets of ₱58.21 billion and total equity of ₱46.76 billion as of September 30. Cash and cash equivalents stood at ₱11.68 billion following strategic outlays, which included a HK$1.6-billion investment in International Entertainment Corporation convertible notes, ₱3.78 billion in dividend payouts, and ongoing investments in in-house software development and proprietary content.
