Following its successful run at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), the historical action-drama film Manila’s Finest continues to gain momentum with multiple nods at the prestigious 9th Editors’ Choice (EDDYS) Awards by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors.
The acclaimed film secured nominations in five major categories:
- Best Supporting Actor: Rico Blanco
- Best Sound Design: Roy Santos and Neil Diokno
- Best Musical Score: Frederik Sandoval and Emerzon Texon
- Best Production Design: Digo Ricio
- Best Movie Theme Song: “Sandalan,” performed by Piolo Pascual (produced by Vehnee Saturno Music and MQuest Music)
Adding to its growing list of milestones, Manila’s Finest has also been selected for international screening at the upcoming 2026 New York Asian Film Festival on July 22.
Helmed by award-winning director Raymond Red, the movie is a joint production of MQuest Ventures, Spring Films, and Cignal. It features a star-studded ensemble cast including Piolo Pascual, Enrique Gil, Rica Peralejo, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Ashtine Olviga, Cedrick Juan, and Rico Blanco. Set during the dictatorship of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the narrative explores the moral dilemmas faced by Manila’s police force as they are torn between their allegiance to the nation and their duty to enforce oppressive orders.
Prior to its current accolades, the film was a major contender at the 2025 MMFF, where it took home several distinctions, including 3rd Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Original Theme Song.
