BASTE DUTERTE RE-ELECTED AS PDP-LABAN NATIONAL PRESIDENT

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte retained his leadership post as national president of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) during the party’s national assembly held on Saturday in the Duterte family’s long-standing stronghold of Davao City.

The national assembly also saw Atty. Jimmy Bondoc chosen as executive vice president, while Senator Christopher “Bong” Go was named party auditor.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, Mayor Duterte brushed off references made to him by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag during the impeachment proceedings of his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte.

”They always take it out of context. They’re the corniest people,” he said.

Mayor Duterte also took aim at the national government, criticizing its focus on the Vice President’s impeachment trial while calling for greater scrutiny into public fund management.

”We are paying our taxes. Saan napupunta ang mga buwis natin? Instead of opening up the Blue Ribbon Committee kung saan nawawala ang trilyon-trilyon nating pera, ano ang priority ng administrasyon ngayon? ‘Yung impeachment ng Vice President,” he said.
