The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced on Monday that it amassed a record-breaking ₱325.81 billion in revenue from January to April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the agency’s fiscal performance.
Surpassing its initial target of ₱314.66 billion by approximately 3.5%, the bureau’s year-to-date collection also reflected a 6.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This surge was bolstered by a standout performance in April, where collections reached a record ₱86.4 billion—exceeding last year’s April figures by 15.7%.
Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno attributed the robust growth to a combination of enhanced valuation techniques, more rigorous monitoring, and the ongoing shift toward digital customs processing.
“This is our highest year-to-date surplus on record for the last 10 years, and it reflects the discipline, integrity, and consistency of our personnel across all ports,” Nepomuceno said.
The bureau previously noted that while revenue is up, it faces a potential annual loss of nearly ₱5 billion due to the removal of excise taxes on LPG and kerosene. Despite this, the agency has maintained its momentum, starting the year with ₱80.74 billion in January.
The record figures bring the bureau closer to the ambitious ₱1.003 trillion revenue target for 2026. Finance Secretary Frederick Go challenged the agency in February to break the ₱1 trillion barrier for the first time in history, expressing confidence that leadership stability and trade rebounds would finally push the BOC past the “elusive” threshold.
