SAMAL ISLAND, Davao del Norte — The management of Casas Con Vistas Resort has strongly refuted viral social media allegations claiming that Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte or other government officials own the property.
In an official public statement released on Tuesday, October 13, the resort clarified that its beachfront estate located in Barangay Pangubatan belongs entirely to private individuals with no ties to the government.
”Casas Con Vistas Resort owners are private citizens who do not hold public office and are not affiliated, directly or indirectly, with Congressman Paolo Duterte or any public official,” the management stated.
Urging netizens to exercise digital responsibility, the management appealed to the public to verify information through credible channels rather than amplifying unverified rumors that threaten the establishment’s reputation.
Furthermore, the resort warned that it is prepared to pursue legal measures against individuals deliberately sharing defamatory fabrications.
”We will not hesitate to pursue appropriate legal remedies,” the resort management said, adding that it reserves all rights under applicable laws while continuing normal operations.
Responding to the controversy, Representative Duterte questioned the logic behind the accusations. He criticized National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag, asking if the official would genuinely believe an operative who presents a random photograph of a house and attributes its ownership to someone else.
The lawmaker stressed that visual documentation alone does not constitute legal proof of ownership, challenging Matibag to surface concrete evidence instead of peddling unfounded property claims against him.
