CAYETANO DENIES TAGUIG GHOST PROJECTS AS LACSON PROBES ₱3.38B IN QUESTIONABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano took to social media to refute allegations of “ghost” infrastructure projects in Taguig City, stating that preliminary checks revealed no non-existent developments in his political base.

Cayetano noted that while national projects fall under the jurisdiction of the national government, he regularly inspects infrastructure initiatives and addresses those with deficiencies.

”So, maaring yung iba sa inyo nagtatanong na, sir, hindi nyo ba sasagutin yung allegations against you? Well, the allegations are general eh. Yung sinasabing may ghost sa Taguig. And we’ve checked. Remember, the national projects are from the national government,” Cayetano said.

”Theoretically, dapat walang kinalaman ang senador-congressman diyan. But of course, nakita natin dyan sa Blue Ribbon Committee na may talagang conspiracy o nakikialam… So, I continue to wait kung ano yung specific allegation and haharapin ko ‘yan.”

”I do as a habit check as much as I can projects… So, in our preliminary investigations, wala kaming nakitang ghost. ‘Yung mga nakita namin may problema, we reported it earlier, that’s why no less than the top DPWH officials from the regional to the national level have inspected some of the projects na may problema at hindi kami nagkulang na magsabing, eto mali ang pagkagawa, eto bakit ganito, eto ang tagal-tagal na,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson confirmed he is closely monitoring the investigation into Taguig’s infrastructure projects following the identification of additional bagmen and suspicious developments.

Lacson revealed that his team uncovered further questionable slope protection projects—many valued at ₱100 million each—bringing the total flagged amount to ₱3.385 billion, with some projects even sharing identical locations and descriptions.

The veteran lawmaker is currently considering submitting the findings to the Office of the Ombudsman to accelerate formal legal proceedings.
