The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has thrown its support behind the upcoming “White Ribbon March,” a peaceful gathering set for June 28 at the EDSA People Power Monument.
In a pastoral statement issued Monday, CBCP President and Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera thanked the clergy, religious orders, and lay organizations for their sustained prayer initiatives over recent months, which he noted are dedicated to fostering “enlightenment, conversion, and renewal.”
Organized by a coalition of religious sectors, the march is envisioned as a non-political demonstration advocating for justice, accountability, truth, and integrity. The event comes as a response to growing public anxiety over corruption and a eroding confidence in government institutions.
While the CBCP welcomed participation in the event, it reminded churchgoers to keep their focus orderly and reverent, emphasizing that the Sunday Mass and Eucharistic devotion must remain the top priority for Catholics.
“The power of the Eucharist renews hearts and transforms lives,” the message said.
The bishops further called on the public to entrust the Philippines to the guidance of Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose pilgrim image is currently touring the country.
The pastoral letter closed with a final plea for continued prayers aimed at steering the nation toward systemic and moral transformation.
