COMELEC RECORD-BREAKING REGISTRATION DRIVE APPLICANTS HIT 5.2M FOR 2026 BSKE

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has officially concluded its voter registration cycle for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), breaking historical records with nearly 5.2 million applications processed nationwide.

Data released by the poll body on Monday revealed a total of 5,142,336 applications successfully received between October 20, 2025, and the final deadline on May 16, 2026.

COMELEC Spokesperson Rex Laudiangco confirmed that the massive voter turnout has set a new milestone for the country’s electoral agency, highlighting a significant surge in participation among youth voters who registered for the grassroots elections scheduled on November 2, 2026.

“Nakamit na po ang pambihirang bilang na halos 5.2 milyong applications na naproseso sa loob ng pitong buwan, na pinakamalaking naitalang bilang ng mga aplikante sa anumang registration cycle sa kasaysayan ng COMELEC,” Laudiangco stated in a message to reporters.

(“The extraordinary number of nearly 5.2 million applications processed within seven months has been achieved, which is the largest recorded number of applicants in any registration cycle in the history of COMELEC.”)

A regional breakdown of the final data showed Calabarzon leading the voter turnout with 838,520 processed applications. Central Luzon followed closely with 574,223 registrations, while the National Capital Region (NCR) secured the third spot with 562,879 applicants.

The seven-month registration drive was launched to maximize voter inclusion for the synchronized BSKE, where Filipinos will elect their next generation of barangay and youth council leaders.
