The combined impact of Tropical Cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng, alongside the boosted southwest monsoon, has claimed 33 lives, injured 19 people, and left three missing, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Monday.
Disaster Preparedness Service Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas provided the latest casualties during a noon press briefing.
“Ang mga namatay po, 33 po ang naka-record. Injured is 19. Missing naman po is tatlo,” Tomas reported.
The disasters have affected roughly 8.8 million individuals—or around 2.5 million households—spanning Metro Manila, CAR, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Regions I, II, III, V, VI, and IX.
Tomas noted that 1,365 evacuation centers remain open, harboring around 46,900 families, equivalent to 164,500 displaced individuals.
“Number of evacuation centers totals to 1,365. Ang families po inside the different evacuation centers is 46,900, and individuals po is 164,500,” he stated.
Property destruction includes 3,300 damaged houses, of which 2,900 sustained partial damage and 405 were completely destroyed.
“Sa damages naman po ay houses, 3,300; ang partially po doon ay 2,900; ang totally damaged naman po ay 405,” Tomas added.
The OCD estimated infrastructure damage at P6.12 billion and agricultural losses at P2.32 billion. Meanwhile, 117 local government units have declared a state of calamity, with total state relief assistance reaching P1.78 billion.
“As regards sa assistance provided po, in total po ₱1.78 billion, and of course the state of calamity is in 117 areas,” Tomas said.
