Six people have died following the combined impact of Tropical Cyclones “Maymay” and “Luis” alongside an intensified southwest monsoon, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
The OCD confirmed two recent fatalities in La Union within the Ilocos Region, involving a 35-year-old man who was electrocuted and another individual who drowned.
These additions follow four previously reported deaths: two kitchen staff buried in a Benguet landslide and two siblings killed by a rockslide in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Seven injuries were also documented in Benguet, including five people hurt during a landslide in Baguio City, one injured in a vehicular crash in Kapangan, and another wounded by a landslide in La Trinidad. No missing persons have been reported.
The severe weather systems have affected 261,048 individuals (74,755 families) across CAR, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Zamboanga Peninsula. Currently, 7,580 individuals (2,519 families) are staying in 83 active evacuation centers.
Infrastructure damage stands at ₱105.5 million, with 120 houses damaged (112 partially and eight totally destroyed) and agricultural losses reaching ₱3.53 million.
The government has distributed ₱7.38 million in aid to affected residents so far.
