The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday rolled out a new digital platform for its Adopt-A-School Program (ASP), designed to simplify and enhance transparency for private organizations and individuals seeking to support public schools while expanding investment opportunities in the Visayas.
Implemented pursuant to Republic Act 8525 (the Adopt-A-School Act of 1998) and relevant Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations, the system aims to build stronger public-private partnerships through a more accountable framework.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara highlighted how the digital portal turns donor goodwill into actionable support, stating:
”Under the leadership of President [Ferdinand] Bongbong Marcos [Jr.], we are turning goodwill into concrete investments—building more classrooms, empowering our teachers, and ensuring equitable access for every learner.”
The new ASP platform offers a streamlined process for corporate donors, civic groups, and individual benefactors by matching sponsors with critical projects, tracking contributions, and facilitating tax incentive applications.
Addressing the public’s eagerness to contribute to educational development, Angara added:
”Marami sa ating mga kababayan at sa private sector ang gustong tumulong sa ating mga paaralan at mga mag-aaral.”
“Ang kailangan lang natin ay bigyan sila ng mas mabilis at mas malinaw na sistema para maging kabahagi ng pagbabago.”
Through an expanded list of priority needs, DepEd identified key areas requiring private-sector assistance, including classroom construction and renovation, school safety programs, and work immersion placements for Senior High School (SHS) students.
The Visayas launch marks a key milestone in the agency’s nationwide 2026 ASP caravan, with upcoming legs planned for Mindanao and Luzon. To further promote inter-agency synergy, the portal will also host project listings from partner institutions, such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
According to DepEd, 192 active partner organizations are currently participating in its nationwide educational interventions.
