DEPED SETS TWO-DAY WELLNESS BREAK FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS

The Department of Education (DepEd) has scheduled a two-day wellness break for public school teachers on September 14 and 15 as part of the implementation of the three-term school calendar for basic education.

Under DepEd Order No. 009, series of 2026, teachers will not be required to attend meetings, training sessions, Learning Action Cell activities, school programs, or perform reports, submissions, asynchronous tasks, and other official responsibilities during the break.

DepEd said the initiative is intended to give teachers an opportunity to rest and recover while attending to their personal well-being ahead of the succeeding academic term.

“A wellness break is provided for teachers after each term to allow them time to rest, recuperate, and attend to their personal well-being before the start of the succeeding term,” the memorandum stated.

The department instructed regional offices, schools division offices, and individual schools to protect the two-day period and ensure that it serves as an actual break for teachers.

School heads and field officials were likewise urged to schedule necessary activities before or after the wellness break to prevent them from undermining its purpose.

The order emphasized the need for schools and concerned officials to follow the directive.

“Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Memorandum is directed,” the order added.
