The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed receiving an official request from the United States government for the extradition of detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy, subsequently endorsing the file to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for appropriate legal action.
In a brief release, the DFA affirmed that the request was processed and forwarded to the DOJ, the primary agency responsible for evaluating and prosecuting extradition matters in the country.
”The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirms it has received the United States Government’s request for the extradition of Apollo Quiboloy,” the department stated. “The DFA has endorsed the request to the Department of Justice.”
The foreign affairs agency refrained from sharing specific details regarding the document’s contents or setting a definite timeline for the proceedings.
Under established extradition protocols, diplomatic requests received by the DFA are routed to the DOJ.
Justice officials will evaluate the documentation to determine the next legal steps in accordance with existing bilateral treaties and local legislation.
