Combined agricultural and infrastructure destruction caused by recent tropical cyclones alongside the southwest monsoon (habagat) has mounted to roughly ₱15.5 billion, disaster management officials reported on Friday.
Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) indicates that the agricultural sector suffered ₱4.37 billion in total losses.
The heavy rains and severe flooding impacted 98,836 farmers and fisherfolk, damaging over 81,300 hectares of cropland across the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CAR, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
Authorities noted that roughly 57,379 hectares of the affected farmland remain recoverable, while nearly 23,926 hectares were entirely destroyed.
Meanwhile, infrastructure damage climbed to nearly ₱11.14 billion, with major public works affected across the Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
Humanitarian impact reports show the casualty toll holding at 44 deaths, 18 injuries, and five individuals missing. Additionally, severe weather wrecked 4,372 residences—leaving 604 homes totally destroyed and 3,768 partially damaged.
