The Department of Health (DOH) has officially activated its “code white” alert across its health emergency response systems following the entry of Tropical Storm Domeng into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The measure ensures that medical facilities and emergency personnel are fully prepared for any potential health or weather crises.
In an official statement released on Friday, the DOH explained that the alert status is a proactive measure to guarantee that hospitals, medical resources, and emergency responders are fully equipped and ready to deploy if the storm impacts local communities.
Strategic Prepositioning and Monitoring
Under the code white status, essential health assets—including medicines, hygiene kits, and critical medical equipment—are being strategically stationed in regions most vulnerable to the storm’s potential impact. Additionally, health emergency response teams at various regional offices and Centers for Health Development (CHDs) have been placed on active standby.
The DOH has instructed all regional offices to maintain 24/7 surveillance of weather updates and coordinate local safety measures.
“The (CHDs) have been instructed to remain on alert 24/7 and closely monitor developments in their respective areas of responsibility,” the DOH said.
Storm Status and Path
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm Domeng entered PAR early Friday morning. Meteorologists anticipate that the storm will gain strength over the Philippine Sea and could develop into a full typhoon by Saturday.
While current forecast tracks suggest that Domeng is unlikely to make landfall in the Philippines, state weather authorities emphasize that they will continue to track its movement to assess any indirect impacts on the country’s weather patterns.
