The Department of Justice (DOJ) has formally lodged criminal charges against Marikina City 1st District Representative Marcy Teodoro following sexual abuse allegations raised by two female police officers previously detailed to his security team.
The state prosecution team filed four counts of rape by sexual assault and one count of acts of lasciviousness before the Marikina Regional Trial Court on August 13, having established probable cause with a reasonable certainty of conviction.
The legal proceedings stem from an August 5 resolution in which the DOJ recommended four distinct informations for rape through sexual assault under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, alongside a charge for acts of lasciviousness under Article 336.
To protect their personal safety and privacy, authorities have withheld the identities of the two female officers, who were posted to the lawmaker’s security detail at different periods.
Prosecutors determined that sworn affidavits and supporting physical evidence collected throughout the preliminary investigation provided sufficient grounds to proceed to trial.
In a related development, the DOJ dismissed counter-complaints of perjury previously brought by Teodoro against both complainants, citing insufficient evidence to substantiate his claims.
Teodoro has rejected all allegations, characterising them as false and malicious fabrications designed to tarnish his reputation and framing the legal actions as politically driven.
