The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured the public that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities will remain unchanged until May 10.
In a meeting held Friday, the agency said manufacturers agreed to extend the price freeze, ensuring that no increases will be implemented on essential goods during the period.
The DTI had earlier committed to maintaining stable prices only until the end of April, but the new agreement pushes the deadline further to provide continued relief to consumers.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the extension aims to ease the burden on households amid the ongoing oil price crisis affecting the country.
The move is expected to help stabilize the cost of living, particularly for low- and middle-income families who are most vulnerable to price fluctuations in essential commodities.
