EASTERLIES TO BRING RAIN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF LUZON, VISAYAS, AND MINDANAO

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the easterlies will continue to dictate weather conditions across the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao this Friday, June 12.

According to the state weather bureau, the easterlies—characterized as warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean—are expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated, localized thunderstorms likely to develop in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA warned the public that severe thunderstorms could potentially trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents in vulnerable communities are advised to remain vigilant and monitor official weather advisories.

For coastal conditions, maritime travel remains generally safe across the archipelago. The weather agency noted that light to moderate winds will prevail, leading to slight to moderate sea conditions nationwide.

Furthermore, PAGASA stated that it is currently not tracking any low-pressure areas or weather disturbances both inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), indicating that no tropical cyclone is expected to form within the next few days.
