Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday explained his refusal to sign the partial committee report of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects, stressing that only a final report merits his approval.
“Why should I sign that’s only partial committee report?” Estrada told Senate reporters.
He emphasized that the panel should complete its work before seeking signatures from its members.
“Dapat final. Kung hindi na siya magpapatawag ng pagdinig sa Blue Ribbon Committee, dapat final na. At pag final, i-disseminate na sa mga members ng Blue Ribbon Committee,” he added.
Despite Estrada’s stance, the partial report continues to gain traction within the committee. Senator Raffy Tulfo recently added his support, bringing the number of signatories closer to the required threshold.
Also backing the report are Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Senate President Pro Tempore and Blue Ribbon Committee chair Panfilo Lacson, along with Senators Erwin Tulfo, Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, and Francis Pangilinan.
With seven signatures secured, the report is nearing the nine endorsements required for adoption, even as some members continue to push for a more comprehensive and final version of the findings.
