FAIR WEATHER TO PREVAIL, BUT PAGASA WARNS OF DANGEROUS HEAT LEVELS

Fair weather is expected across the country this Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4 a.m. advisory, the weather bureau stated that the entire archipelago will experience “partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.”


Dangerous Heat Levels Forecasted
While skies remain relatively clear, PAGASA warned of high heat indices in several regions.

The heat index—defined as the “temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity combines with actual air temperature”—is expected to reach “Danger” levels in the following areas:

  • 42°C: Pasay City; Sangley Point, Cavite; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; Butuan City, Agusan del Norte
  • 41°C: San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Coron, Palawan
  • 40°C: Baler, Aurora; Camiling, Tarlac; Dumangas, Iloilo; Zamboanga City; Davao City

Marine and Wind Conditions
Moderate winds and seas are expected over the eastern sections of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. The rest of the country will see light to moderate winds paired with slight to moderate sea conditions.


Typhoon Sinlaku Update
PAGASA is also monitoring Typhoon Sinlaku, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of the latest report, the typhoon was located 2,570 km east of extreme Northern Luzon.

The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gusts of up to 150 kph. It is currently moving north-northwestward at 15 kph and is not expected to directly affect the country’s weather at this time.
