FL LIZA PRAISES FILIPINO DRIVERS FOR HARD WORK AMID RISING FUEL COSTS

MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos praised the dedication and sacrifices of Filipino transport workers, emphasizing their vital role in keeping the nation’s economy moving despite the financial strain caused by soaring fuel prices.

Speaking at the “Mula sa Puso, Para sa Pamilya” free rice distribution drive held on September 29 amid ongoing transport strikes, the First Lady shared in a social media post on October 2 that she felt deeply emotional seeing truck drivers, traditional and modern jeepney drivers, as well as tricycle operators gathered at the venue.

She noted that behind every steering wheel is a dedicated Filipino working long hours to transport commuters and goods across the country.

“Because behind every vehicle is a hardworking Filipino driver who spends long hours on the road — bringing people home, delivering goods to our communities and helping keep our country moving,” she said.

“Thank you for all you do and for the many ways you serve our country,” she added.

Acknowledging the heavy financial pressure drivers face daily due to continuous fuel price hikes, Araneta-Marcos highlighted that the government’s rice distribution effort was a token of appreciation for their perseverance.

“I know that rising fuel prices make each day even harder,” she said.

“Today was our simple way of thanking you for your hard work, your sacrifices, and your invaluable service to the country,” she added.

Addressing the transport workers directly, she emphasized that their contribution to society is deeply valued by the administration.

“Sabi ng asawa ko, hindi biro ang trabaho ninyo,” the First Lady said.

“So itong ginagawa namin, konting bagay lang ito, pero galing sa puso namin,” she added.

She also reminded the drivers to look after their well-being while plying their daily routes and urged the public to stay united during challenging economic conditions.

“Take care of yourselves, take care of your health, and always be safe on the road,” she said.

“At huwag po nating kalimutan: Mahirap man ang daan, dapat sama-sama tayo,” she expressed.

“Sama-sama tayong babangon. Sama-sama tayong uusad,” she concluded.
