Former Police Colonel Royina Garma is set to appear as a witness in the trial of former President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, a vocal critic of Duterte, revealed the information, noting that his team was the first to raise the issue of extra-judicial killings in the Philippines before the ICC.
While details of Garma’s testimony remain unclear, she previously told a House committee about the nationwide implementation of the “Davao Model,” a system of rewards for killing suspected drug personalities.
Trillanes added that alleged hitmen Edgar Matobato and Arturo Lascañas are also among those testifying before the ICC.
Duterte is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands, facing charges of crimes against humanity over his administration’s bloody war on drugs.
