GATCHALIAN SEEKS SENATE UNITY, AWAITS WORD FROM CAYETANO

Senate President Win Gatchalian shared that he has not yet received a direct communication from Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano since taking over the leadership of the upper chamber.

​Speaking in a radio interview, Gatchalian maintained that his office remains fully accessible to all of his colleagues as he prioritizes foster institutional unity.

He noted that a vast majority of lawmakers, including several individuals from the minority bloc, have already extended their well-wishes and support.

​“Iyong iba nagte-text sa akin, nag-congratulate…marami na mga members ng minority na nag-text o nagpapadala ng congratulatory message,” Gatchalian said.

​He stressed that the primary objective at this time is for the Senate to move forward cohesively. When specifically questioned about whether Cayetano had reached out to congratulate him, Gatchalian clarified the current situation.

​“Particularly kay Sen. Alan wala pa,” he said.

​When asked if he planned to initiate contact with Cayetano, the newly minted Senate President reiterated his willingness to hold discussions with any member of the chamber.

​“Sabi ko nga, lahat naman ang aking pintuan, ang aking puso, laging bukas,” he said.

​Gatchalian expressed confidence in maintaining smooth communications across party lines, noting that he shares long-standing professional relationships and friendships with members of the minority.

Having previously collaborated with most of the current roster, he described them as dedicated public servants who are focused on fulfilling their legislative duties.
