Widespread rainfall is expected to affect substantial portions of the Philippines due to the combined influence of the southwest monsoon (habagat) and a low pressure area (LPA) situated outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the southwest monsoon will trigger scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across Mindanao, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, the Negros Island Region, and Palawan.
At the same time, the trough extending from the LPA will bring similar rainy conditions with scattered thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas and the Bicol Region.
Located 1,235 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon as of 2 a.m., the weather disturbance shows a strong probability of intensifying into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
PAGASA cautioned residents in the affected regions that moderate to heavy rainfall could potentially cause severe flash floods or landslides.
Conversely, Metro Manila and the remaining areas of Luzon are anticipated to experience isolated rain showers brought on by localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds will prevail across the entire archipelago, accompanied by slight to moderate sea conditions.
