The Southwest Monsoon, locally referred to as Habagat, is currently impacting Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and the western section of Southern Luzon, triggering overcast skies and wet weather on Wednesday, June 3.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the steady monsoon will trigger periodic rainfall across Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
The weather agency also noted that the same weather system will bring cloudy conditions accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of the Ilocos Region, and the remaining areas of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.
Conversely, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only isolated downpours or thunderstorms to the rest of the Philippines.
Concurrently, forecasters are tracking a Low Pressure Area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 2:00 a.m., the weather disturbance was spotted approximately 496 kilometers northwest of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan.
PAGASA reassures the public that this system currently poses little threat, noting that the LPA maintains a low chance of intensifying into a tropical depression over the next 24 hours.
