The House prosecution team is gearing up to call at least two witnesses per day to accelerate the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to panel member and San Juan Representative Ysabel Maria Zamora.
Zamora stated that the prosecution has prepared a robust lineup of witnesses and is fully equipped to present two individuals during a single session, provided the Senate impeachment court permits it.
“So prepared naman kami na mag-present ng at least two witnesses a day. Siyempre naghihintay lang ang isa until matapos ang isa, and if he will be allowed to testify by the presiding officer,” said Zamora in a radio interview.
She further disclosed that the team had already brought an additional witness to the Senate last week to ensure they were ahead of schedule.
“Sa totoo lang, last week nandoon na rin po yung aming next witness,” she added.
For the upcoming round of hearings, the Senate court has summoned National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc, Office of the Vice President chief-of-staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez, and House Legislative Security Bureau Director Capt. Belinda Bello.
However, Zamora pointed out that the appearance of all three subpoenaed officials remains fluid, as the prosecution’s strategies shift day by day.
“Hindi pa definite iyon dahil meron tayong three ngayon, and we only have three days this week. So tingnan na lang po natin kasi sa totoo lang, every day nagbabago ang arrangement, ang plano,” Zamora explained.
The lawmaker kept the identities of future witnesses under wraps, noting that internal deliberations within the prosecution panel are still actively taking place.
“Well, siyempre hindi ko masabi kung sino ang ating next witnesses pa, kung meron pa after the three this week. But marami po tayong pinag-uusapan sa prosecution,” Zamora added.
