ICC HIRING FILIPINO INTERPRETERS FOR UP TO ₱5.1M ANNUALLY

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking interpreters with annual salaries reaching approximately ₱5.1 million as it advances preparations for the crimes against humanity trial of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to a vacancy announcement by the ICC Registry’s Language Services Section, the tribunal is looking for an Associate Court Interpreter fluent in Filipino (Tagalog) and Cebuano (Bisaya). The position is based at the ICC headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.

The role offers a minimum net annual salary of €71,173, which translates to about ₱5.1 million under current exchange rates.

While the ICC specified this as a net annual figure, it did not state the exact start date for the role, noting that actual earnings will depend on the employee’s official start date and duration of contract.

The job posting indicates that the position is on a fixed-term contract running until December 31, 2026. Interested applicants have until July 4 to submit their applications.

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during trials, witness testimonies, conferences, and other official court proceedings. Additionally, the interpreter will translate and proofread legal documents, build terminology databases, and offer linguistic assistance to court staff.

To qualify, candidates must hold an advanced university degree in interpretation, translation, linguistics, law, or a closely related discipline. The ICC also mandates at least two years of professional experience alongside high proficiency in English, Filipino, and Cebuano.

Applicants who successfully clear the initial screening will be required to undergo aptitude tests, interviews, specialized training, and accreditation before they can begin working in courtroom proceedings.
