Senator Imee Marcos has further fueled speculation regarding the health of her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., alleging that the Chief Executive was “in and out” of the hospital in November 2025.
In a recent interview, the Senator revealed that her relationship with the President is currently “non-existent” and that they have not met in person for over a year.
She expressed deep concern over his physical appearance and urged the administration to be transparent with the public.
“Kung ano yung nakikita ko sa diyaryo na sobra siyang pumayat na parang nahihingal sa pagsasalita, ngayon mukha namang nag-improve, tumaba konti, I’m just hopeful that he gets the best care possible,” she said.
ALLEGATIONS OF REPEATED HOSPITALIZATION
The Senator linked the President’s supposed health decline to alleged substance issues, claiming his condition deteriorated rapidly late last year.
“I said that there were drug issues, the addiction issues, and exposed that in November, wala pang dalawang buwan diretso na siya sa ospital ilang beses kaya talagang nalulungkot ako. I’m very, very sad that he is not taking care of and he is not watching for himself,” the Senator added.
CALL FOR AN OFFICIAL MEDICAL BULLETIN
Senator Marcos criticized the administration for allowing rumors and AI-generated images to dominate the narrative instead of providing clear, clinical facts.
She argued that the Filipino people have a right to know the true state of the President’s health to ensure “trustworthy and determined” leadership.
“I’ve been enjoining them to release a medical bulletin made by a doctor. Instead, we have all the chismis in the world, all the haka-haka, duda, all the AI-generated images,” she stressed.
CONTEXT OF THE SIBLING RIFT
The Senator’s remarks come amid a prolonged period of silence between the two. In March 2025, she characterized their lack of communication as a “normal family” issue, though it notably coincided with her vocal opposition to the government’s pursuit of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
While Malacañang has not yet issued a formal rebuttal to the Senator’s latest claims, President Marcos Jr. himself addressed health rumors in April 2026.
At the time, he confirmed a January diagnosis of diverticulitis—an inflammation of the digestive tract—but maintained that he had since recovered and returned to his full operational schedule.
