Controlling inflation, increasing wages, and fighting government corruption are the top national issues Filipinos want President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration to address immediately, according to a recent OCTA Research survey released Tuesday.
The Q2 poll, conducted from July 4 to 11 among 1,200 respondents, asked:
”Among the following national issues, which in your opinion are the most important issues which the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. must act on immediately?”
Out of the issues surveyed, controlling the rising costs of basic goods and services led national concerns at 37%, closely followed by raising workers’ wages at 34%.
Rounding out the top five national priorities were curbing graft and corruption at 32%, securing affordable food access at 24%, and offering free quality education at 22%.
Anxiety over inflation was most pronounced in the Visayas (42%) and Balance Luzon (41%). Across socio-economic groups, it registered as the primary issue for Class ABC (41%), Class E (40%), and Class D (36%).
On an individual level, health topped personal anxieties, with 65% of respondents identifying staying healthy and avoiding sickness as their primary concern. Other major personal worries included having enough daily food (47%), building savings (41%), securing stable employment or income (41%), and completing or funding education (38%).
The nationwide survey carries a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, with subnational regions (NCR, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) carrying a ±6% margin of error.
