ITCZ TO BRING RAINSHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF PHILIPPINES

MANILA, Philippines — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy conditions, rainshowers, and thunderstorms to parts of the country on Tuesday, October 6, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. 24-hour weather forecast, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

These areas may experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall may occur and could lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable locations.

Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that stronger thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides in susceptible areas.

Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, meanwhile, may have cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeasterly windflow. No significant weather impacts are expected in these areas.

For the wind outlook, extreme Northern Luzon may experience moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast, accompanied by moderate to rough coastal waters with waves measuring around 1.2 to 3.1 meters.

The rest of Luzon and the eastern portion of the Visayas may experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA’s regional forecast also indicated cloudy conditions with rainshowers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, where temperatures in one forecast area may range from 25°C to 32°C.

Residents, particularly those living in flood- and landslide-prone communities, were urged to stay alert and continue monitoring PAGASA’s latest weather bulletins and advisories.
