Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson launched a sharp rebuke on Sunday aimed at Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, calling anyone who uses the Bible to mask untruthful claims a “devil incarnate,” as their dispute over Taguig City infrastructure projects deepened.
In an August 9 social media post, Lacson avoided naming Cayetano directly but openly questioned how anyone could quote holy scripture while spreading falsehoods.
“It takes unusual talent to lie with a straight face, but starting a lie with quotes from the Scripture is something else, that only a ‘devil incarnate’ may be capable of doing,” Lacson said.
He reinforced his point with a follow-up reference:
“As the Bible says — ‘Even the devil can quote Scripture.’”
Lacson later echoed the sentiment on Facebook, translating his criticism into Tagalog.
“Ibang klase ring talento ang magsinungaling nang hindi man lang kumukurap, pero ano naman ang tawag sa taong kayang simulan ang kasinungalingan gamit ang salita ng Diyos?” he asked.
The cryptic statements follow an escalating feud over public works funding in Cayetano’s political base.
Lacson previously flagged roughly ₱14.4 billion in Taguig infrastructure projects completed from 2020 through 2025, alleging significant irregularities in their execution.
