LACSON URGES CIVILIAN COMPLAINT AGAINST PADILLA OVER SENATE INCIDENT

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has advised individuals seeking accountability against Senator Robin Padilla to formalize their grievances by filing a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee, following allegations that Padilla assisted Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa after a high-profile incident at the Senate on May 13.

Lacson clarified that the legislative panel cannot act on its own accord, emphasizing that the Senate Ethics Committee requires a formal complaint deemed sufficient in form and substance before it can officially launch an investigation.

The veteran lawmaker further suggested that it would be more practical for a civilian to initiate the process rather than a sitting legislator.

The controversy ignited after Malacañang released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage capturing Padilla and Dela Rosa together, boarding a vehicle in the early hours of May 14—moments after a reported gunfire incident transpired inside the Senate premises.

Padilla has since vehemently denied accusations that he aided Dela Rosa in an alleged escape, asserting that he merely shared a ride with his colleague and labeling the allegations as entirely groundless.
