Most parts of the Philippines are projected to encounter isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday due to localized weather disturbances, as over 26 million students across the country return to classrooms for the opening of School Year 2026-2027.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated that the southwest monsoon, locally termed habagat, will likely bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Ilocos Region and Zambales.
In its 5 a.m. public weather forecast, the state weather bureau cautioned residents that moderate to heavy downpours in the affected regions could lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying areas and steep terrains.
Conversely, Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago are anticipated to have generally fair weather, though sudden isolated rain showers or thunderstorms remain possible, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also noted that Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds accompanied by moderate coastal waters.
For the rest of the country, light to moderate winds are expected to prevail, bringing slight to moderate sea conditions for mariners.
Furthermore, the weather bureau confirmed that no low-pressure areas are currently being monitored that could potentially intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next few days.
