MACAU RALLIES TO BEAT TERRAFIRMA 96-92 IN PBA GOVERNORS’ CUP

Kobey Lam sank the go-ahead layup with 10.2 seconds left to cap off Macau’s thrilling comeback from 17 points down, securing a 96-92 victory over Terrafirma in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

With the game tied at 92, Jenning Leung picked Maverick Ahanmisi’s pocket, setting up Lam’s fastbreak finish. Though Lam missed the ensuing bonus free throw, he immediately redeemed himself by stripping Terrafirma import Justin Strings on the rebound. Forced to foul, the Dyip sent Damian Chongqui to the line, where he calmly sank two free throws to seal the win.

Terrafirma had one last chance to push the game to overtime, but Juami Tiongson’s four-point attempt missed the mark as time expired.

Devondre Perry led the charge for the Giant Pandas with a dominant double-double of 34 points and 14 rebounds, while Chongqui added 29 points. Lam finished with 12 points, highlighted by his clutch late-game heroics.

Strings paced the Dyip with a matching 34-point effort, with Ahanmisi and Tiongson adding 20 and 15 points, respectively.

The come-from-behind victory gave the Giant Pandas back-to-back wins, allowing them to close out their first-round campaign tied with Terrafirma at 2-4 in Group A.
