MALACAÑANG DISMISSES RUMORS OF MILITARY DESTABILIZATION PLOT

Malacañang on Thursday brushed off reports of a supposed destabilization plot against the Marcos administration, stating that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has detected no credible threats of internal unrest.

The Palace issued the clarification following warnings from Senator Panfilo Lacson about alleged dissatisfaction among military ranks.

Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that top military leaders have explicitly denied having any verified intelligence to support the claims.

“Ang sabi po mismo ng pamunuan ng AFP ay wala silang nakukuhang anumang detalye o impormasyon patungkol dito,” Castro stated.

While acknowledging that speculations have circulated across various sectors, the Palace assured the public that the AFP is closely monitoring the situation. Castro added that military commanders see no reason to conduct loyalty checks, reiterating complete trust in the institution’s integrity.

“Pero siyempre may ugung-ugong, at ito naman din ay kanilang binabantayan. But as of now, ang miyembro po ng AFP ay nananatiling active, united at professional, at hindi po kinakailangan – according to AFP – ng loyalty check dahil alam po nila ang kanilang mandato para sa bayan na naaayon sa konstitusyon,” she said.

The Philippine Army backed this stance, releasing its own statement to reassure citizens that troop morale is high.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete emphasized that the military remains steadfast in its duties and completely detached from politics.

“As a disciplined and professional organization, the Philippine Army stands firm in our oath of service. We are a non-partisan organization and will not intervene in any political activity,” Nafarrete said.

The military leadership reiterated that the entire organization remains dedicated to national defense, upholding the rule of law, and respecting the constitutional order.
