MANILA, Philippines — The Marcos Jr. administration has proposed a higher allocation for the Philippine National Police (PNP) under the 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) to support salary increases for officers and boost overall law enforcement operations.
According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the PNP is slated to receive ₱242.53 billion, marking a ₱15.98-billion increase from its ₱226.55-billion funding under the 2026 budget.
The DBM noted that the increased budget is designed to ensure police personnel are properly compensated and provided with the necessary equipment to fulfill their duties.
The bulk of the proposed funding—around ₱210.55 billion—will go toward Personnel Services. This includes ₱100.549 billion dedicated to the second tranche of the base pay adjustment for uniformed officers pursuant to Executive Order No. 107, as well as ₱28.67 billion to maintain the ₱350 daily subsistence allowance for 224,421 police personnel.
To increase police visibility and strengthen public safety, the administration has set aside ₱697.18 million to recruit 2,000 new patrol personnel nationwide, alongside ₱2.186 billion to fill vacant uniformed positions.
Frontline crime prevention efforts will receive substantial backing, with ₱225.754 billion earmarked for the Crime Prevention and Suppression Program to maintain order across the country.
The proposed budget also maintains a ₱2-billion allocation for the PNP Capability Enhancement Program to procure essential mobility, communications, firepower, and anti-terrorism equipment. An additional ₱3.12 billion is allocated for information and communications technology, while ₱1.499 billion will fund infrastructure development.
Beyond operational needs, the budget includes health and welfare provisions for officers and their families, featuring ₱1.74 billion for rice subsidies, ₱280.67 million for healthcare and hospitalization support, and ₱125.11 million for the Bantay Kaisipan Health Program to promote physical and mental well-being.
The DBM emphasized that these investments are intended to fortify the police force across all areas—offering competitive compensation, additional personnel, updated technology, and well-supported officer welfare.
