NBI SUMMONS 4 LAWYERS OVER ALLEGED SEX SCANDAL PLOT VS ES RECTO

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued summonses to four lawyers allegedly involved in drafting a script and sworn statement for a honeytrap plot targeting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, officials reported.

According to the NBI–National Capital Region office, the legal professionals were instructed to present themselves at the bureau on Friday, during either the morning or afternoon sessions, to clarify their roles in the alleged scheme.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag previously noted that the unnamed attorneys could face disbarment proceedings if proven involved, suggesting it might be better if they voluntarily surrender their professional licenses.

Investigators are looking into potential motives behind the operation, including local political rivalries or matters related to Recto’s key position in the administration, according to Matibag.

The investigation gained momentum following the arrest of a talent manager identified by the alias “Ken.” In a statement, “Ken” claimed that former Negros Oriental 1st District Representative Jing Paras acted as the facilitator, while Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste allegedly served as the financial backer of the scheme.

The NBI emphasized that its inquiry remains ongoing as agents continue to verify the full extent of involvement of all parties named in the operation.
