Malacañang clarified on Tuesday that the government has not received any pending proposals to build artificial intelligence data centers in the Philippines.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that no data center developments are slated for the Clark Advanced Manufacturing Park, explaining that the site is designated as a hub for producing advanced components and equipment for AI-driven electronics and data infrastructure.
“On the Clark Advanced Manufacturing Park, there will be no data centers,” Castro said during a Palace press briefing.
The Palace statement responds to previous comments from the Department of Trade and Industry regarding potential AI data center locations under the Pax Silica initiative in areas outside New Clark City that offer more sustainable water and power supplies.
The DTI had also noted that various economic zones nationwide are being considered for advanced manufacturing and integrated circuit design.
Citing the latest updates from the trade department, Castro affirmed that all projects under consideration within the Pax Silica framework must strictly comply with existing regulatory standards, emphasizing that environmental safety remains non-negotiable.
“We assure everyone that any investment project, whether data center or not, or whether under the Pax Silica or not, will have to undergo strict compliance with government regulations, for example, and most critically on environmental impact,” she said.
Castro added that no official applications have been logged for data center builds outside New Clark City under the Pax Silica umbrella.
“Kung meron po silang sinasabing ibang lugar na hindi sa New Clark City, wala pa pong proposal patungkol po dito, ayon po sa DTI,” she said.
