NO TROPICAL CYCLONES EXPECTED IN THE PHILIPPINES THIS WEEK, PAGASA SAYS

The Philippines is projected to remain free of tropical cyclones for the rest of the week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced in its weather forecast on Sunday, June 14.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio confirmed that no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are currently developing or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Instead, the weather bureau noted that the easterlies—warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean—will serve as the primary weather driver over the next three days.

This prevailing atmospheric pattern is expected to bring warm and humid mornings, followed by isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Over the next 24 hours, the weather bureau forecasts cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional isolated thunderstorms.

Despite the absence of active storms, PAGASA warned the public about the potential intensity of localized weather disruptions. The state weather agency cautioned that severe thunderstorms could still trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.

For maritime conditions, Aurelio stated that no gale warning is currently hoisted, indicating that sea travel is generally safe across the country.

However, he reminded mariners that sudden thunderstorms can still cause brief rough seas and reduced visibility along coastal waters.
