OMBUDSMAN PROBES 26 HOUSE LAWMAKERS OVER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT ANOMALIES

The Office of the Ombudsman is investigating at least 26 members of the House of Representatives for their possible involvement in alleged irregularities linked to government infrastructure projects.

Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano disclosed the development on Tuesday, confirming that the anti-graft body has already secured the Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs) of the lawmakers after the House complied with a subpoena.

“We also ask for the SALN of the members of Congress because the House is the repository of these SALNs. Meron na pong compliance ang Congress sa mga SALN na hinihingi namin,” Clavano told reporters.

He explained that the probe extends beyond flood control projects, pointing to a broader scheme involving infrastructure spending.

“It’s the first batch that we asked for, and they complied. This is in relation with infrastructure anomalies, because we are looking at a scheme. And that goes beyond flood control projects. It is a scheme involving infrastructure projects,” he added.

Clavano assured that the Ombudsman will continue to pursue corruption cases, including those tied to flood control projects.

Since launching the investigation in September 2025, the Ombudsman has already filed three batches of cases related to such anomalies.
