OVP LIBRENG SAKAY MARKS 4TH ANNIVERSARY WITH OVER 3.5-M RIDERS SERVED

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) marked the fourth anniversary of its Libreng Sakay Program on Monday, August 3, announcing that over 3.54 million commuters nationwide have utilized the free transit service since its 2022 rollout.

According to the OVP, reaching this benchmark highlights its ongoing commitment to enhancing public transit accessibility and lightening the daily commuting expenses of Filipino workers, students, and regular travelers.

The agency highlighted the dual significance of the milestone, calling it:

“both a celebration of the program’s fourth year and a recognition of the continued trust and support of the commuting public, whose patronage has helped sustain the initiative as a reliable and responsive public service program.”

To celebrate the occasion, the agency distributed 5,000 commemorative Libreng Sakay tokens to commuters traveling on select bus routes in Metro Manila, Naic, Cavite, Bacolod, Tacloban, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao. Official figures confirm that the total rider count reached more than 3.54 million as of June 30, 2026.

Reaffirming its long-term goals, the OVP pledged to continue expanding direct public assistance programs designed to address the day-to-day challenges faced by local communities.
