The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has strengthened its helicopter fleet with the addition of two Bell 412EPX utility helicopters, expanding its capacity for air mobility and disaster response operations.
The two aircraft were formally accepted and blessed on Tuesday, September 15, during a ceremony at Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
The event marked the turnover of the second batch of helicopters acquired through the PAF’s Additional Utility Helicopter Project. It was organized by the PAF Systems Engineering and Modernization Office (SEMO) and led by PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura as guest of honor.
Col. Alvin Jay Capinguian, chief of the PAF Public Affairs Office, said the new helicopters are expected to contribute significantly to the service’s operational capabilities.
“These newly acquired assets are expected to significantly enhance the PAF’s operational capabilities, specifically in the areas of air mobility and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations,” Capinguian said.
During the ceremony, Cordura emphasized the importance of ensuring that the helicopters are properly maintained and deployed strategically.
He called on the personnel assigned to operate and maintain the aircraft to uphold professionalism, competence and accountability, stressing that these qualities would be essential in making the most of the newly acquired assets.
The additional helicopters further expand the PAF’s utility aircraft capabilities as the service continues its fleet modernization program for military operations as well as humanitarian and other noncombat missions.
