PAGASA WARNS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PHILIPPINES

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Widespread rain showers, cloudy skies, and localized thunderstorms are expected across various regions today, October 8, according to the state weather bureau.

In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that two main weather systems are influencing conditions across the archipelago: the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) impacting Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao, alongside a northeasterly windflow influencing the eastern corridor of Northern Luzon.

Over the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, the ITCZ will bring overcast skies accompanied by scattered precipitation and thunderstorms. The weather agency cautioned that moderate to heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods or landslides in susceptible locations.

Concurrently, the northeasterly windflow is set to bring cloudy conditions with light to moderate rains across Cagayan Valley, the Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, and the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country will generally see partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or sudden thunderstorms driven by localized weather dynamics.

PAGASA advised residents in vulnerable areas to take precautions, noting that brief but intense thunderstorms could similarly induce localized flooding and landslips.

Stronger winds ranging from moderate to strong are anticipated along the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, bringing moderate to rough coastal sea conditions.

The public and local disaster authorities are encouraged to stay updated through official weather bulletins.
