President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared special nonworking days in 13 localities and one legislative district throughout August to allow residents to mark local festivals, founding anniversaries, fiestas, and a special congressional election.
Signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on behalf of the President, the proclamations were officially published on the Official Gazette website.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the of celebration,” the proclamations stated.
The initial lineup of special nonworking days includes:
- August 7: Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (Town fiesta, Proclamation No. 1371)
- August 12: Candoni, Negros Occidental (65th founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1373)
- August 13: Magpet, Cotabato (63rd founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1374)
- August 14: Davao City (Kadayawan Festival and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Proclamation No. 1372)
- August 14: Mawab, Davao de Oro (Founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1375)
Subsequent local holidays declared in the month are:
- August 15: Bulacan (Provincial founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1376)
- August 15: Viga, Catanduanes (Araw ng Viga, Proclamation No. 1377)
- August 17: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (Pavvurulun Afi Festival, Proclamation No. 1368)
- August 18: Kidapawan City, Cotabato (79th founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1378)
- August 19: Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya (Citrus Festival, Proclamation No. 1379)
