President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced a one-month extension for the filing of the 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns (ITR), moving the deadline to May 15, 2026.
The President said the extension aims to give taxpayers more time to complete their filings properly without penalties.
“Mas may oras ang bawat taxpayer na makapag-file nang maayos, kasama ang lahat ng kailangang dokumento, at walang ipapataw na penalties,” Marcos stated in a social media post.
He added that the move is intended to ease the financial burden on Filipinos amid rising oil prices.
“Ginawa natin ito para mas magaan ang pagbabayad ng bawat Pilipino, lalo na sa panahong ramdam ang pagtaas ng presyo ng langis,” he said. “Tuloy-tuloy ang ating ginagawa para maibsan ang bigat sa araw-araw na buhay ng ating mga kababayan.”
Taxpayers may file their returns through the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s electronic platforms or via Authorized Agent Banks.
The extension provides individuals and businesses additional time to prepare and submit accurate returns, as the government continues to roll out measures to support citizens amid ongoing economic challenges.
