President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sent warm birthday wishes to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for her 67th birthday on Friday, calling the date the “most important day in the calendar.”
In a post shared to his social media accounts, Marcos wrote, “My dear Liza, we’re celebrating today a most important day in the calendar; Liza Day!” Expressing his affection, the President added, “Happy Birthday to the First Lady of every day of my life… and beyond.”
The public message follows recent scrutiny over a social media announcement Araneta-Marcos made a week prior regarding a “birthday sabbatical.”
The statement was posted during severe weather conditions caused by the southwest monsoon, which caused widespread flooding throughout Luzon.
On August 17, the First Lady shared plans to pause her duties until August 24, describing the break as a period with “no makeup, no hairspray, no terno, no heels, no speeches, no official photos, no meetings, no schedule, no stress.”
