PBBM ORDERS GOV’T AGENCIES TO UPGRADE NATIONWIDE WATER SERVICES AND ENSURE RELIABLE SUPPLY

​Malacañang announced that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed relevant government bodies to enhance water utility operations across the nation to ensure a dependable and adequate supply for all Filipinos.

​Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, July 21, Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that executive directives are actively being implemented, focusing heavily on bolstering resource access and boosting operational efficiency.

​Castro highlighted that the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) is leading several key efforts, including locating untapped water reservoirs, broadening pipeline infrastructure, and curbing distribution leaks.

​“The projects that will reduce non-revenue water for qualified water districts. Ito iyong tinitingnan iyong may mga leakage, may mga tagas ng tubig para hindi masayang ang tubig,” Castro explained.

Furthermore, the Palace official noted that LWUA is actively overseeing private entities involved in joint ventures with local water districts, ensuring they adhere strictly to their contractual agreements with consumers.

She warned that non-compliant firms will be held fully accountable for service shortcomings.

​”At binanggit din po ng LWUA na committed sila sa kanilang mandato at responsibilidad dito sa mga water districts. So, patuloy ang pagmo-monitor at pag-e-examine at pag-a-assess ng LWUA sa mga serbisyo po ng mga water districts,” Castro added.

​According to the Palace, LWUA remains dedicated to executing its statutory mandate through continuous monitoring, rigorous evaluations, and performance audits of water districts to elevate utility standards nationwide.
